Crime related words and their meanings.

1. Forgery- the crime of copying money, documents.(fake)
- Experts are dismissing claim that the painting is a forgery.

2. Massacre- the killing of a large number of people especially in a cruel way.
- Nobody survived the massacre.

3. Seize- to take somebody/ something in your hand suddenly and using force.
- She tried to seize the gun from him.

4. Trap- to keep somebody in a dangerous place or bad situation that they want to get out of but can not.
- We become trapped by the rising flood water.

5. Agitation- worry and anxiety that you show by behaving in a nervous way.
- Dot arrived in a state of great agitation.

6. Skirmish- to take part in a short fight or argument.
- There are reports of skirmishing along the border.

7. Remand- to send somebody away from a court to wait their trial which take place at later date.
- He is currently being hold on remand.

8. Parole- permission that is given to a prisoner to leave person before the end of their sentence on condition that they behave well.
- Sanjay Dutt was released on parole.

9. Contempt- contempt of court.
- She was held in contempt for refusing to testify.

10. Ransom- money that is paid to somebody so that they will set free a person who is being kidnapped as a prisoner by them.
- the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 50 lacs from his family.

11. Culprit- a person who has done something wrong or against the law.
- Dowood Ibrahim is main culprit of Mumbai blasts.

12. Nab- to catch or arrest somebody who is doing something wrong.
- He was nabbed by the police for theft.

13. Bust- to suddenly enter a place and search it or arrest somebody.
- He's been busted for drugs.

14. Extradite- to official send back somebody who has been accused or found guilty of a crime to the country where the crime was committed.
- The British government attempt to extradite the suspect from Belgium.

15. Verdict- the decision of the jury in a case judgment.
- The panel will give their verdict on the latest video releases.

16. Heinous- morally very bad
- Osama Bin Laden have committed more heinous crimes that other terrorists.

17. Suspect- to have an idea that something is probably true or likely to happen, especially something bad, but without having definite proof.
- Nobody is suspected in pahchan main hoon kon case.

18. Quash- to officially say that a decision made by a court is no longer valid or correct.
- The rumuors were quickly quashed.

19. Assault- the crime of attacking somebody physically.
- He has been charged with assaulting a police officer.

20. Bribe- a sum of money or something valuable that you give or offer to somebody to persuade them to help you.
- She had been offered a 5 lacs bribe to drop the charges.
